Practice and Experience
Mr. Johnson is a trial lawyer focusing on commercial litigation, intellectual property litigation, and insurance disputes. Mr. Johnson represents a number of product manufacturers in defense of large product defect claims; real and intellectual property owners in ownership, infringement, and damage claims; and individuals and businesses in personal injury and employment matters. In addition, Mr. Johnson represents policyholders in insurance coverage matters, ranging from suits for coverage of environmental contamination, claims for business interruption, simple coverage under a homeowner's or business policy, and bad faith. When not prohibited by conflict, Mr. Johnson provides counsel to insurance companies on coverage matters as well. Mr. Johnson has extensive appellate experience, successfully arguing appeals in Washington, Oregon, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Reported opinions: Griffin v. Allstate, 108 Wn.App. 133 (2001); Batterman v. Red Lion Hotels, Inc., 106 Wn.App. 54 (2001); Growers Refrigeration Co. Inc. v. Pacific Electrical Contractors, 165 Ore. App. 274 (2000).
Professional Qualifications
Mr. Johnson is a 1994 graduate of the University of Puget Sound School of Law. He is a member of the Washington state bar (1994), and is admitted to practice in the United States District Court (W.D.Washington, 1997; E.D.Washington, 1998) and United States Court of Appeals, (Ninth Circuit, 1998). He is a member of Defense Research Institute.
Community and Civic Activities
Mr. Johnson has been active as a volunteer tutor for elementary school students, and has volunteered his services through the Fremont Legal Clinic. He formerly served on the Board of Directors for the Greenwood Home, a non-profit family home for individuals with severe mental and physical disabilities, and on the board of Emerald City Football Club, a select soccer organization in Seattle.
